Weaving White Oak Baskets
with Master Basketmaker Bobby Edwards

We are very excited to have one of the premier white oak basketmakers we know join us to teach his craft. There is a long tradition of making white oak baskets in our region with families having survived by trading their handmade baskets for food and clothing during harder times. Participants will begin with a white oak "pole" and from it will split out each piece of the basket by hand just like it's been done for generations. There will be a choice of several styles of baskets to make. We feel honored to be sharing this nearly forgotten craft.
