Harvesting and Using Hickory Bark
If you are a fan of old chairs then there’s no doubt you’ve seen seats woven with hickory bark. By teaching you how the bark is taken from the tree and then woven into a chair we hope to keep this nearly lost art alive. Whenever we’re “jerkin’ bark” we often comment feeling greatly connected to the past and pleased to be carrying on this tradition. True, it is hard work, but we see nothing wrong with that. You’ll take home a footstool you’ve woven yourself along with some great memories.
