Decorative Spoon Carving
with Renowned Carver Johnny Ruhl

We are looking forward to having one of the most gifted teachers around join us to teach decorative spoon carving. You'll start with a log or limb of cherry, split it out by hand, practice the steps of layout and design, and then proceed to making the most interesting spoon you've ever carved. There will be opportunity to practice the use of a variety a carving tools as well as learning the proper care, maintenance, and sharpening of those tools. Johnny is also the former Gee-Haw Whimmy Diddle World Champion and a master story teller so get ready for an enriching two days!

*In the event that you have none or only some of the tools listed above (or haven’t even heard of some!) don’t worry, Appalachian Life Workshops will provide you with all of the tools necessary to complete your project. We will also have a selection of tools available for sale at the workshop if you are interested.
